PEOPLE. Times and places of the human
A project of the Association of Women Photographers
With the Patronage of the Municipality of Bologna and the Contribution of the Banca di Bologna
Bologna, Palazzo Comunale Sala D’Ercole
September 26-October 11, 2024
PEOPLE is a photographic project that aims to collect and show social and material relationships in the different expressions of current and past life born from a project of the Women Photographers Association with the economic contribution of the Bank of Bologna, an active territorial reality supporter of initiatives that enhance artistic heritage and cultural excellence.
The focus of the exhibition, starting from individual interests and actions, takes the form of an excursus of familiar, sometimes marginal or even liminal experiences.
Thus we move from the most traditional family memories and environments, to new family units that disregard gender and ethnicity, from different stages of biological life to radical transformations in the life of the same individual, from the meaning emanating from family objects to the aura of artistic artifacts, from life projects, to productive projects.
The importance of the project lies not so much in the aesthetic or artistic value of the photograph, but in the collective effort in which more than thirty women are engaged in an absolutely free and egalitarian experience.
