On all the walls of the world.

1st CAP | TRAVEL STORIES.

The choice of the working theme, “What is the Journey for Us?
The first wall chosen was the one that runs along Corelli Street, where a CPR, a detention center for repatriation, was opened in 2020, which can accommodate up to 140 foreigners awaiting deportation.
This presence suggested the first theme to be addressed, which is that of the Journey.
“Looking at the long Wall of Via Corelli, we imagined how many stories we could tell if we made the Journey together with the people housed in the Center. For them, is the Journey a point of departure or arrival?
And in between, what is there? There is life and there is hope. There is the journey. Often the suffering. There are the people encountered and the heaviness of a backpack or suitcase, or the lightness of a bag containing our most cherished possessions. There are worn shoes and starry skies, there is sharing and loneliness, there is weariness and joy. And so much more.
Then we asked ourselves the question: – What is the Journey for us? –
We are all travelers. A book is enough to project us to a different place. Isn’t traveling with the mind within everyone’s reach? Dreaming of a different world, pursuing distant horizons, encountering different customs are the common denominators of those who embark on a journey whether outside or inside themselves.”

Interaction with local residents
Interaction with possible passers-by (a bike lane runs along the wall on Via Corelli) will go to construct different answers to the same question, following the multiple visions that will emerge and that can be fixed by anyone, on the day of the performance or in the following ones, on the white posters available to those who wish to intervene.

WallZine’s ephemeral mode

Wall Zine will live on the walls, and each performance will be ephemeral and short-lived because the posters will most likely be daubed shortly after installation.

The performance will be recorded through a video that will document the group’s action and the reaction of passersby and onlookers who will be asked the initial question, “What is the Journey for you?” the return of which will be posted on the last poster at the conclusion of the exhibition project.

The exhibited material may be presented in other cities on different surfaces and in different ways to suit different needs.
